Atelier 7 – Music for Boys’ Choir and Rock Band
This ateliers aims at boys’ choirs with an age range from 8 to 20 years of age and will have an easy to medium level of difficulty.

Conductor: Hans-Joachim Lustig [DE]
Hans-Joachim Lustig graduated from the Lübeck Academy of Music in 1992 with a degree in music and education, and has since been working in North Germany as a free-lance choral conductor. He was a fellow of the German Music Council (Deutscher Musikrat) in 1994/1995. In 1991, while still at university, Hans-Joachim Lustig founded the chamber choir I Vocalisti, and is still today the artistic director of what has come to be an internationally renowned choir. In 1999, he took charge of the Chorknaben Uetersen.
He leads masterclasses in choral singing and choir conducting and works successfully as a conductor and jury member at concerts, festivals and competitions both in and outside Germany. As a guest conductor, he has worked amongst others with the Belgrade Radio Choir, Philharmonia Chorus London and the State Choir Ankara.
Choreographer: Anne Weyler [DE]
Anne Weyler is a performance artist between the poles of dance, performing arts, fine arts and medial arts in North Rhine – Westphalia. She is member of several arts collectives and works, among others, for Marina Abramovic.
From 2008 to 2018 she worked as a dance educator for modern children’s dance and bewegungstheater in numerous schools and dance schools. She mostly teaches in accordance with the Iwanson method and uses structural improvisation.

Boys' Choir Nizhny Novgorod [RU]
The Nizhny Novgorod Boys‘ Choir was founded in 1946 as a music and choir school for boys. Since 1993, the graduates receive a conductor’s training and the choir’s artistic capacity has considerably increased. Famous Russian conductor Lev Ssivuchin was head of the school from 1953 to 2001. Under his direction the choir took part in many big national and international musical events and received high recognition, both in Russia and beyond.
Under the direction of Alexander Orlov (2005-2016), the choir won several awards, for example at the Choir Competition Wernigerode (2009), and performed with renowned conductors like Valery Gergiyev (2014/15). Today, Dimitry Guryanov is conductor of the Nizhny Novgorod Boys’ Choir, being himself a graduate of the school. The choir is accompanied by the pianist Anna Boyarchuk.
The choir is on of the flagships of the city of Nizhny Novgorod and regularly invited to the city’s major cultural events. They have been touring many parts of Russia as well as Germany, France, Poland, Spain and the U.S. The Choir is made up of several age groups, the younger boys’ group will be travelling to Bonn for YOUTH CHOIRS IN MOVEMENT 2019.
Junior Choir of Otto-Kühne School Bonn [DE]
The Otto-Kühne-Schule Bonn/Bad Godesberg lays a big focus on musical education. Over 200 students are part of choral classes, vocal courses and four choirs that have won several prizes in national competitions over the last few years. There is a strong choral tradition at this private progressive school which dates back to the school’s foundation in 1883.
The 60 singers of the junior choirs normally rehearse separately in girls’ and boys’ choirs. The repertoire consists of many different genres, ranging from pop arrangements to musicals, canons and classic literature, both a cappella and with piano accompaniment.
The junior choirs are conducted by Alexandra and Dietrich Thomas.
Sunrise [DE]
SUNRISE is the youth choir of the protestant church of Bonn – Holzlar. Some of the children have been singing together since the age of five. The focus so far has been on music theatre, often in cooperation with other choirs, including ‘Letters to God’ with children from Palestine and Malawi, and ‘Ronja, the Robber’s Daughter’ and ‘Mönsch Martin’. Sunrise gained their first competitive experience in the 2017 choral competition of the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia. In 2018 they won the gold medal in the JUGEND SINGT competition. The young singers bring a lot of energy, commitment, excitement, motivation and flexibility to each rehearsal and thus push themselves for new projects and challenges. The keywords to describe Sunrise’s musical work are singing, curiosity, community, energy, motivation, acting and joy.
